- at the farm level and its immediate surroundings
- Effect of crop diversification in time and space (rotations, cover crops, strip cropping, intercropping) on soil microbial diversity
- Promoting positive plant-soil fungi interactions (e.g., root mycorrhization) to increase C allocation using service crops
- Reducing chemicals in favour of non-contentius inputs from circular economy (plant biostimulants, plant strengtheners)
- Strategies to reduce accidental contaminations (pesticide residues in organic products)
- Multi-actor approach in reaserch
Methodologies: plant diversity and traits, microbial diversity, root mycorrhization, ultrastructural and semi-quantiative elemental analysis of soil-plant-root- compost-organic matrices by SEM-EDS.
Council for Agricultural Research and Economics (CREA) is the leading Italian research organization dedicated to the agri-food supply chains, operating as legal entity under public law, and supervised by the Ministry of agricultural, food and forestry policies (Mipaaf).
CREA scientific activity covers agricultural crops, livestock, fishery, forestry, agro-industry, food science – and socioeconomics.
From 2000's, CREA is involved in research on organic farming and food production, in 2016 creating an Italian network of organic long-term field experiments (organic living labs).
CREA organization manages several technological platforms among the 12 research Centres, which guarantees a high quality performance in terms of analytical methods and technical tools.
