We are interested in co-defining and testing with farmer, advisor and research, innovative farming systems and territorial organisation; while taking into account value chain expectations; based on agroecological transition to reach greendeal expectation.
The CRA-W brings together scientific research, service and support functions in support of Walloon
farmers, stockbreeders, horticulturists, forestry producers and operators in the agri-food sector. More especially Sustainability, systems and prospectives Department co-builds and investigates the performance of innovative crop and/or livestock farming systems, jointly defining potential futures and helping land areas and agri-food chains to move towards greater sustainability.
- Understanding, investigating and managing interactions within agro-ecosystems and between the latter and the soil, air and water components of natural environments. Proposing innovative and sustainable cropping systems;
- Working in close cooperation with stakeholders involved (farmers, members of sectors and areas,...), to identify and explore the sector's transition paths as well as the associated obstacles and incentives;
- Developing multi-criteria analysis methods to quantify the economic, environmental and societal performances associated with innovative practices deployed as part of agricultural platforms and systems.
