agrobiodiversity, traditional agricultural knowledge, agroforestry, wild fruits
- at the farm level and its immediate surroundings
We would like to join a consortium to work on one of the following topics:
- agroecology in alpine space
- agroforestry (traditional fruit varieties in agroforestry, agroforestry to mitigate and adapt to environmental/climate change); forest pastures
- wild fruits: management of small to medium-sized cultivation areas (grazing, mowing, …), include further growers, areas and stakeholders, e.g. civil society, official bodies; gardens, parks, public facilities, agrotourism (also in relation to products, e.g. rowanberry jam), valorization / business models for wild fruit products
SAVE Foundation is a pan-European NGO that works on the safeguard of traditional crop varieties and local livestock breeds. We conduct projects in different countries involving diverse stakeholders (researchers, farmers, official bodies, NGOs) with the aim to conserve agrobiodiversity. SAVE Foundation collects data on traditional crop varities and livestock and runs platforms like Fundus Agri-Cultura Alpina (traditional agriculture in the Alps; www.fundus-agricultura.wiki) and Arca-Net (platform for the promotion of agricultural products; www.arca-net.info). SAVE Foundation initiated the largest wild fruit collection in Europe (www.wildobst.info) and annually gives an award to innovative products made from traditional crops and local livestock breeds (Arca-Deli award).
