We specialize in managing agricultural residues, transforming them into non-fossil energy sources and fibers. This not only reduces reliance on fossil fuels but also combats greenhouse gas emissions by preventing CO2 release from decomposing biomass and lowering nitrogen need for decomposing residues, which leads to less N2O and Methane emissions from the soil.
We propose a whole crop harvest (one granted German patent and another applied and pending) where gathered biomass is separated into food grains and residues that are transformed into compost. In this way, more nutrients and carbon return to the soil compared to current practices. By harvesting the entire crop (whole crop harvest), we reduce weed seeds and fungal spores on fields, leading to less reliance on herbicides, fungicides, and soil tillage – all crucial aspects of agroecological practices.
We have recently got funding from ESA-BIC to include biomass quality evaluation using remote sensing data. The final goal is to match biomass supply and demand addressing specific industry needs.
