agroforestry, regenerative agriculture, alley cropping, agroecological research
- at the farm level and its immediate surroundings
We established a low input alley cropping system (agroforestry) in 2020 to study agro-ecological aspect of agricultural production and its quality, soil improvement, biodiversity, climate change mitigation efficiency as well as economy.
As a research unit, we would like to join a consortium gathering more living labs.
Institute of Forest Ecology SAS deal not only with the forestry issues. Mlyňany Arboretum as a branch of the institute with broad woody plant collection is located in an agricultural landscape, thus can join forestry with the agriculture (more employees studied at the Slovak Agricultural University in 30 km distant Nitra and are disposed of suitable technical infrastructure).
