Determine and assess benefits/impacts and trade-offs of agroecology, and identify best practices
We are eager to contribute to agroecological projects by offering well-structured work packages designed to address key challenges in environmental sustainability across Southern Europe. Our consortium comprises two prominent research institutes: the Institute of Agrobiotechnology (CSIC-IdAB) and the Public University of Navarre (UPNA), both located in Navarre, Spain.
We are fully committed to advancing agro-ecological innovation through collaborative efforts and multidisciplinary approaches. With a strong foundation in research excellence and field-based applications, we are well-positioned to contribute meaningfully to the success of agro-ecological projects.
We can provide work packages with various potential contents:
1.- Environmental sustainability in the European South. Our research teams bring together a wealth of expertise in crop physiology, as evidenced by the advanced tools and methodologies employed by Dr. Aranjuelo’s lab. In addition, we maintain strong partnerships with agro-food cooperatives in the region, which ensure that our research is directly aligned with the practical needs and priorities of agricultural stakeholders. This collaborative framework also provides access to extensive field capacities, enhancing the impact and relevance of our contributions to proposed projects.
2.- One of our innovative proposals includes a research initiative aimed at increasing the accumulation of stable organic matter in soil. This initiative seeks to strengthen soil health, mitigate climate change impacts, and improve overall agricultural sustainability.

Public University of Navarre (UPNA):
Located in Pamplona, Spain, UPNA hosts a multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Iván Jáuregui, whose research spans from genetics to the development of cutting-edge fertilizers for sustainable agriculture. The group works in close collaboration with Professor Luis Miguel Arregui, an expert in transformative agricultural practices and advanced agroecological techniques.
Institute of Agrobiotechnology (CSIC-IdAB):
Situated in Mutilva, Spain, CSIC-IdAB is a leading research center directed by Dr. Aranjuelo, a recognized expert in crop physiology and sustainability. The institute focuses on critical challenges such as climate change adaptation and the integration of digital tools in agriculture. Importantly, CSIC-IdAB emphasizes the dissemination of research outcomes to farming communities and the general public, fostering informed decision-making and encouraging broader engagement with sustainable agricultural practices.
