Transform value chains, businesses and policies to facilitate the transition to agroecology
In our country, sheep and goat diseases cause increased costs, production losses, yield losses and greenhouse gas emissions. Foot diseases have a high share among sheep and goat diseases. National and international studies show that sheep foot diseases are a significant health and welfare problem on a global scale. In some European countries such as Ireland and the UK, large budgets are allocated for eradication and treatment programs. We believe that we will achieve better results when we combat lameness, interdigital dermatitis and foot rot, which are quite common, in coordination and cooperation with our international stakeholders. We invite our stakeholders to participate in our project in accordance with the call for cooperation with the economic support of the funder.
As the General Directorate of Livestock of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, we successfully fulfill basic duties such as developing incentive principles in the livestock sector, determining the qualifications of animal production inputs and enterprises, and conducting permit and approval processes. We carry out national and international studies on issues such as the dissemination of high-quality animal breeds, the promotion and supervision of production methods that protect human health and ecological balance, and the implementation of activities aimed at increasing animal production. In addition, we add value to the sector with the implementation of animal breeding programs, the determination of technical criteria in the import and export of animals for breeding purposes, the establishment of information systems related to livestock, and studies on the marketing of animal products. As a distinguished institution serving our country, we are ready to successfully manage all kinds of national and international projects with our expert and competent staff and to contribute to our stakeholders.
