Determine and assess benefits/impacts and trade-offs of agroecology, and identify best practices
At Oeko-Institut our team on Sustainable food systems and lifestyles in the Sustainable Products & Material Flows Division foucuses on a systemic approach and take a comprehensive life cycle perspective. In the area of agriculture, agroecology and nutrition systems, we work on topics such as dairy production systems, grassland, arable crops, alternative proteins, meat alternatives.
. In addition to ecological aspects, our team also examines interactions with social issues. Depending on the research question we use a set of methods that are disciplinary as well as inter- and transdisciplinary. These include, for example, life cycle assessments (LCA) and greenhouse gas inventories for products and companies (product or corporate carbon footprint (PCF, CCF); product environmental footprints (PEF)), Life Cycle Costing (LCC), eco-efficiency and material flow analyses and analyses to evaluate environmental impacts that are difficult to quantify, such as ecosystem services or the loss of biodiversity.
We would be happy to provide our expertise to a research consortium.
