Transform value chains, businesses and policies to facilitate the transition to agroecology
We welcome partnerships with research institutions, NGOs, and public or private entities working on innovative agroecology solutions. We are particularly interested in projects that address:
- Short Value Chains: Enhancing local food systems through innovative policies and ecosystem-based solutions.
- Ecosystem Services: Developing payment-for-ecosystem-service schemes tailored to small-scale farmers in isolated regions.
- Circular Practices: Scaling circular bioeconomy approaches in livestock and crop systems.
- Policy Development: Informing policies that facilitate the transition to agroecological practices and strengthen farmer participation.
Our goal is to co-create and implement impactful projects that address the specific needs of rural and remote regions, and advance agroecological practices.
Feel free to reach out to discuss synergies and explore potential collaboration opportunities.
The Agrarian Development Service of Flores Island (SDAFL) operates under the Regional Government of the Azores, focusing on the unique challenges of agricultural production in remote island ecosystems. Located on Flores, the westernmost point of Europe, we actively support local farmers and stakeholders in transitioning towards more sustainable and resilient agroecosystems. Our work emphasizes innovation, biodiversity conservation, and fostering circular economy principles to enhance food sovereignty and sustainability.
