Strengthening farmers’ involvement and empowerment in the transition towards agroecology
The Apicultural Research Center of the Aegean Agricultural Research Institute is open to national and international collaborations on honey bee breeding and genetic resource conservation, colony performance and productivity assessment, bee health and diseases, and the quality and standardisation of bee products. The Center is also interested in partnerships on pollinators and ecosystem services, bumblebee rearing and mass production, and producer-based socio-economic studies supporting the agroecological transition. In addition, we welcome collaborations on digital monitoring systems in apiculture (microclimate, hive weight, acoustics, etc.), data infrastructures and decision-support approaches, as well as climate-risk analyses and field validation activities. We would like to join a consortium as a partner within the scope of this call, in line with our areas of expertise and ongoing work.
The Apicultural Research Center of the Aegean Agricultural Research Institute operates under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye and serves as a national R&D unit conducting research, development and applied activities for the apiculture sector. The Center works on honey bee breeding and improvement, conservation of local races and ecotypes, colony performance, bee health and diseases, and the quality and standardisation of bee products (honey, pollen, propolis, royal jelly, beeswax, etc.). The Center also carries out activities on bumblebee rearing and mass production, digital monitoring systems in apiculture, data infrastructures, decision-support approaches and field validation and extension activities related to climate-risk analyses.
