Our interest in cooperation is related to genomic selection in the field of animal husbandry, with a view to improving the quality of animal production, as well as the conservation of local animal breeds of economic importance for Bulgaria. Our country has a wide variety of local indigenous breeds. In this regard, we are working on projects focused on the field of sheep, rabbit, fish, pig breeding, also beekeeping etc.

The Thracian University, and in particular the Faculty of Agriculture, has DNA analysis laboratories in which scientific research is conducted. It has the necessary scientific capacity to conduct such analyses, as well as administrative experience. The main goal of our research is to preserve the genetic diversity of domestic animal breeds raised in Bulgaria on the one hand and to support modern genomic selection with a view to improving the quality of animal production on the other.
