Strengthening farmers’ involvement and empowerment in the transition towards agroecology
• Promotion of short agroecological marketing and distribution channels. Through the union of several producers and the inclusion of other locally sourced products with an agroecological vision, the network aims to promote the profitability and viability of initiatives through alternative markets.
• Participation in cooperatives and the social and solidarity economy. Support for entrepreneurship in rural areas through support for social and solidarity economy networks and cooperatives.
• Support for critical culture and biocultural memory, contributing to debates and spaces where agroecology and culture converge. For years, the organization has participated in a poetry festival and other events related to traditional culture, with a critical perspective on developmentalism.
• Promotion of small-scale food processing industries through inclusion in the network of spaces that contribute to artisanal food production, thereby fostering a stronger connection between primary production and small-scale food processing. Work is being done to facilitate access to resources and to make regulations more flexible for the development of these types of initiatives in rural areas.
• Applied research on the territory through participatory methodologies and with a focus on sustainable rural development.
EcoJerte brings together producers from the Jerte Valley who are working to implement agroecological practices on their farms. This network is organized to supply a network of consumers (consumer groups, cooperative supermarkets, small organic stores) through short marketing channels. It also conducts applied research in the region to promote agroecological transition at the regional level.
