Determine and assess benefits/impacts and trade-offs of agroecology, and identify best practices
This project aims to establish an innovative learning laboratory using virtual reality (VR) technology to provide training on sustainability, ecological awareness and productivity in agricultural production. Interactive and hands-on training modules will be developed for farmers, academics, researchers and students. For the realization of the project, cooperation with partners and stakeholders specialized in the following areas is targeted. Technology companies that will establish the hardware and software infrastructure of the VR laboratory for technology infrastructure and software development, software developers who will contribute to the development of VR simulations, 3D modeling and visualization experts, experts in the field of educational content and module development, academics working on agricultural production, ecological sustainability and climate-friendly agricultural practices, There is a need for instructional technologists to design VR-supported education programs, agronomists to create practical VR education scenarios suitable for the needs of farmers, students and researchers, UI/UX designers to create a user-friendly and accessible VR education platform, graphic designers to design realistic VR environments that best reflect agricultural processes. Our aim is to create practical and interactive virtual environments, smart agricultural technologies and efficient VR-supported training scenarios for ecological production processes on topics such as economic and environmental impacts of sustainable agricultural practices, organic farming techniques and biodiversity conservation, fertilization, irrigation, plant health, pest management. This project will support the spread of sustainable agricultural practices by providing accessible and low-cost technology training for farmers. By bringing agro-ecology to the virtual world, we aim to revolutionize hands-on training and raise awareness on productivity gains, resource savings and environmentally friendly production techniques. We would be pleased to be contacted to collaborate with relevant institutions and experts!
Within the scope of Başkent University's mission, the purpose of the establishment of the Institute of Food, Agriculture and Livestock Development is to contribute to raising the technological, socio-economic and cultural level of society, improving human health, developing and protecting human and environmental rights, and expanding service to society through education, research, development and dissemination of science in the fields of study. Başkent University Food, Agriculture and Livestock Development Institute was established to contribute to sustainable development in the fields of food and agriculture, adopting the motto of Başkent University Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Haberal, who said many years ago, “Let the fields not be concretized, let Turkey not go hungry...”. The vision of the Institute is to carry out accurate and reliable education-research-development studies in the fields of food, agriculture and animal husbandry in accordance with developing technologies, to evaluate the applicability of these studies, to ensure the flow of information with internal and external stakeholders at different levels of society and, as a result, to contribute to science, society and the national economy.
