Strengthening farmers’ involvement and empowerment in the transition towards agroecology
We are interested in collaborating on projects that support the social dimension of agroecology: farmer empowerment, capacity building, participatory approaches, and co-creation with stakeholders. We can contribute methods for assessing environmental and socio-economic sustainability, performing life cycle assessment and resource-efficiency analyses, and developing frameworks to evaluate trade-offs and impacts of agroecological adoption by farmers. We are also interested in supporting knowledge transfer, participatory design of agroecological systems, and assessing environmental performance under diversified, sustainable farming regimes.
Aarhus University is a leading Danish research institution with recognized expertise in agroecology, sustainability assessment, circular bioeconomy and life cycle analysis. The Department of Agroecology works on integrating environmental, economic and social aspects of agricultural and food systems. Our team is experienced in evaluating resource efficiency, environmental footprint, and bioeconomy, and is well positioned to contribute to agroecological transition initiatives that require stakeholder engagement, farmer empowerment, and participatory research — combining ecological sustainability with social inclusivity and economic viability.
