Enhancing the genetic diversity and variability of crops and livestock for the agroecological transition
52°North is an expert in the development of interoperable open-source solutions to integrate heterogeneous data sources, spatial analytics and interactive visualization for research, informed decision taking and communication. These Research Data Infrastructures (RDI) are tailored on the one hand to the needs of researchers, but can also provide co-designed information products for specific user groups or non-experts based on the research data. 52°North is interested to join consortia that are in need of a tailored open source spatial research data and information infrastructure (aka RDI, SDI, SII) to research and develop this infrastructure for the specific use cases arising from agroecology and their stakeholders.
52°North Spatial Information Research GmbH is a small enterprise (SME) that operates on a non-profit basis co-funding open source software developments for applied research in the field of geoinformation. We have a long history in conducting applied research and the development of spatial data infrastructures based on open source solutions and open standards (i.e. OGC standards). Participating in national and European research and development projects has grown our expertise in addressing the needs of researchers but also stakeholders in sectors ranging from oceanography, over transport, tourism and hydrology to agriculture and forestry. All these sectors are affected by a changing climate and we could integrate heterogeneous open data sources from large to local scales feeding insightful information services for experts and non-experts.
