Strengthening farmers’ involvement and empowerment in the transition towards agroecology
At NOVACT we are interested in building a consortium and formulating a strong proposal responding to the Subtopic 2.2 – Collective action, peer learning and social innovation. We are looking for an experienced coordinator.
We see this call as an opportunity to continue and expand our work in strengthening the agroecological food ecosystem, in particular of livestock in the Pyrenees and pre-Pyrenees areas in Catalonia, by combining practical market-building with sector coordination. We have mapped around 1,000 sustainable producers and about 400 retail outlets, cooperatives, and relevant organisations, and used this knowledge to facilitate new commercial connections so producers could access additional sale spaces. In parallel, we convened and engaged more than 30 key stakeholders to co-develop an agreements document with concrete participatory strategies, support a new producers' network and deploy actions to advance a fairer, more dignified, and more sustainable commercialization, while also refining an existing approach into a more viable and scalable model for local agroecological distribution. This experience, and the continuous conversation with local partners, has provided us a solid foundation to design and implement a continuity project with partners interested in expanding reach, deepening collaboration, and scaling impact across these and new territories.
As partners in a consortium submitting a proposal for Sub-topic 2.2, we can contribute by:
• Coordinating working packages or specific task
• Co-design and implement a peer learning curricula and methodologies adapted to the needs and concerns of target beneficiaries.
• Leading activities and case-studies in Spain/Catalonia while connecting the project with relevant and local stakeholder and networks.
• Co-developing policy recommendations, and helping disseminate results to both public audiences, academic and public authorities.
