Strengthening farmers’ involvement and empowerment in the transition towards agroecology
The Soil, Water and Desertification Control Research Institute (Türkiye) seeks partners to jointly investigate farmers’ involvement and empowerment in agroecological transitions. Our interest focuses on understanding how social dynamics, community perception, collective action, and power relations shape farmers’ engagement in transition processes in semi-arid agricultural systems, particularly in regions with long histories of land degradation and recovery. We welcome collaboration with research institutions, universities, civil society organisations, advisory services, and policymakers interested in joint proposals and long-term cooperation within the AGROECOLOGY Partnership framework.
The Soil, Water and Desertification Control Research Institute is a public research institution operating under the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM), Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye. The Institute focuses on soil and water conservation, combating desertification and land degradation, and promoting sustainable, climate-resilient agricultural systems, particularly in semi-arid regions. With over 60 years of experience, it conducts applied research, long-term field studies, and demonstration projects in close cooperation with farmers and local stakeholders.
