Enhancing the genetic diversity and variability of crops and livestock for the agroecological transition
We are interested in forming or joining a consortium on genetic diversity, climate adaptation, and disease resistance in livestock breeds (Subtopics 1.1 and 1.3). We offer access to Turkish local sheep breeds, Boz cattle, and Anatolian buffalo, plus established farmer networks for Living Lab implementation in Marmara and Aegean regions. We seek partners with expertise in genomic characterization, livestock genomics, bioinformatics, or participatory breeding approaches. Interested parties please contact us to discuss collaboration opportunities.
Bandırma Sheep Research Institute is a public research institution under TAGEM, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Türkiye. We maintain ocal sheep breeds, Boz cattle, Anatolian buffalo, and geese as genetic resources. Our facilities include animal housing, laboratory infrastructure, and established farmer networks across Marmara and Aegean regions. Research focus: genetic characterization, breeding programs, climate adaptation, and disease resistance in livestock breeds.
