Enhancing the genetic diversity and variability of crops and livestock for the agroecological transition
We are seeking partners interested in jointly developing an interdisciplinary Topic 1 project.
Yalova is a strategic hub for the ornamental plant sector in Türkiye, with strong production capacity and well-established research infrastructure. The Ornamental Plants Department of the Atatürk Horticultural Central Research Institute conducts research focused on the sustainable use of genetic resources, the development of new species and varieties, and the breeding of climate-resilient, low-input genotypes in response to climate change.
Within this context, we are open to collaboration in interdisciplinary Topic 1 projects that aim to integrate genetic diversity with decision-support processes, sustainability assessments, and stress phenotyping approaches under agroecological conditions. We particularly welcome innovative approaches that can contribute to the development of stress-adapted, climate-resilient ornamental plant varieties based on plant genetic resources.
The Atatürk Horticultural Central Research Institute is one of Türkiye’s most established and competent research organisations in the field of horticulture. The Institute conducts research and development activities focused on breeding, production techniques, and quality improvement in ornamental plants, as well as in fruit crops and viticulture, with the aim of developing and transferring locally bred varieties to the sector. With its strong infrastructure and experienced research staff, the Institute is a leading research centre that effectively translates scientific outputs into practical applications.
